A large, natural sinkhole in the ground, approximately 15 meters in diameter and 3 meters deep, with steep, rocky sides and a flat, grassy base, surrounded by a wooden fence and situated in a rural area.
A pristine and perfect example of what the Lake District can provide. Breath taking views across the whole landscape. Stunning walk from start to finish. Nothing to straining so perfect day out for the family and friends
This is a known central point in Langstrath. If you know what you're looking for start here. Gorgeous place. Some people even swim in it. Plenty of sheep and on a nice day you won't be alone. Onwards to Stake Pass. Up to the big fells of the south. I really do love this place. On the way out grab a pint in the Langstrath Inn. A legend in its own right.
I loved it!beautiful place for a nice fresh swim! Could be busy but I ve been lucky today !view all around is incredible
Amazing wild swimming/paddling spot. It's roughly 45 minutes walk up from the village which can be quite brutal in the hot weather - it was 26 degrees when we visited but more than worth it. Something for everyone, whether you just want to paddle in the shallower bit or jump from the top. Lots of smaller spots along the way too which look nice. Highly recommend grabbing some water shoes as the bed of the water has some sharp stones.
Great hike and easy to find the path back. Like others have said parking is very limited so I also wouldn't recommend going past the school. There are even more smaller swim spots just before this point but probably the only jumping spot. Be safe, respectful and have fun but please don't blast music there or on the trail. It's beyond rude
Gorgeous walk along the river to get to this lovely spot. A beautiful walk, easy and fairly flat but along stony paths. The walk was short and unstrenuous to reach this spot. All along the way, there are nice pools and mini waterfalls making great places to relax and have a dip if you just want a short walk. The site itself was busy in the glorious June sunshine. People were jumping from various levels but taking turns and it seemed safe. Great place for a swim. Though the highest place for jumping in was busy, we were able to find a quiet spot just downstream with some lively pools and wee waterfalls. A great day out!
