A 2-mile stretch of sandy beach nestled between the towns of Porthmadog and Criccieth, backed by a belt of dunes and offering calm and clear waters perfect for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding, with the added attraction of a historic railway line running along the beach's edge.
Stunning, amazing view with good sands, hardly any rock or seashell. You can park your car at the beach provide you remember your high and low tides. Charges during the summer is PS8 good value and worth it. Best time to come over in the afternoon as it is quieter but also you can do your shopping and avoid queues. Toilet available good clean
Great long beach which you can drive and park on facing out to the sea. The beach is worthy of 5 stars but 1 star deducted for the toilets and their general condition and cleanliness. All in all a great place to go and chill out sunbathing, in the water or beach games. Excellent ice cream van too!
It was extremely windy when we went but all good when we got wind breaks up! It was 8 PS8 a car when we went, there were reasonably clean toilets accessible as well, ice cream van was quite frequent
One of the most beautiful beaches I've visited! Although the entry fee (by car) is PS8.00, this provides you with a day ticket, which you can use up until 8pm. So if you wanted to visit Black Rock Sands Beach for a bit, explore Porthmadog and then return later on, it enables you to do so (just keep your yellow ticket safe!) I was surprised that it wasn't much busier with it being Sunday and sunny, but there was PLENTY of parking and I love that you can drive on the beach and park anywhere (of course, as long as this is done sensibly and without impeding on the enjoyment of others.) A great place for people with kids, those who fancy taking their jet skis out for a ride along the waves, or those just in the mood for a stroll along the beach, whilst taking in the lovely views and the sound of the waves. Space wasn't an issue, as there was plenty of it for everyone. I definitely recommend this beach, for those in or near Porthmadog!
A large beach where you can drive into the beach to park. Be aware the car park closes at 8pm and the gates are locked for entry and exit at this time. Big long beach and the water is very warm, perfect for a late night swim
Have been coming here since I was a small child. Best place ever. Drive on. Everything you need where you're parked. Toilets on entrance of beach. Great for crabbing and exploring the rock pools when the tide goes out. Cool caves which the kids always love. Cooked a beef brisket in red wine sauce with veg and potatoes. Was absolutely lovely day. And gorgeous weather just topped it off
