This former school building now showcases the rich history and industrial heritage of Blaenavon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Interactive exhibits and displays explore the town's role in the Industrial Revolution, its coal mining and ironworking past, and the lives of its people. The centre also features a recreated Victorian-era classroom and a collection of artifacts, photographs, and films that bring the town's story to life.
Great community center with amenities for all ages including a cafe, computer room, and a beautiful museau with one of the best interactive display sets that I have ever seen. I must do to start off your visit of the Great town.
The food is delicious. Coffee and tea are excellent. The atmosphere is great. I have been there now 5 times this month and it has been busy every day. Next to it is a little museum about the history of the iron workers. It also has a gift shop with reasonable prices. It also entails the Blaenavon library, which has cute programs for little kids. All the personnel I interacted with were super friendly. I highly recommend this place.
The museum part was very informative and interesting, some of the videos were OK. Mining and Stee productionl in Wales brought so much benefit to the country, but at such a high cost to the workers! Fascinating historical centre. Disappointed by the Cafe, they had 45 minutes to go before closing, but had already cleaned the coffee machine, to benefit themselves. They offered me instant coffee! Oh well that's 2024 workers for you. They could learn a lot from the hardworking miners that used to population these beautiful hills!
It was good if you like trains. Was a bit disappointing. We paid PS22 for two adult tickets (kids were free on this occasion). The journey seemed to go back and forth, rather than from point a to point b, but there wasn't anything to do at any of the stops. Journey lasted about an hour's and about 15-20 minutes of this was stationary to have pictures of the kids in the engine itself if you wanted to. Appreciate totally it's a volunteer run thing but we were just expecting something else after looking at the website and having done these trips before. Not saying don't go by any means, just don't expect too much
A great day out. Brimming with history from the Industrial Revolution and the rise and fall of the Iron Works. Much to explore, and look at, including the workers' cottages through the ages. Would most definitely recommend.
Great place, the cafe adjoining is brilliant to round your day off, fantastic views while sipping away.
