A remote trig point situated on a windswept moor in East Ayrshire, Scotland, marked by a concrete pillar with a metal plate and a spider-like structure on top, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
Lifetime experience with the kids , . we reached 5 am so we can watch the sunrise , It was wild , fresh , calm and breath taking , On the way back we met a couple who gave us the best scotish welcoming GOODMORNING ever ..
Cracking wee viewpoint, in the Lennox Forest. Easily accessed via Forest paths. I walked it from Bishopbriggs, but it can be accessed from various places.
Great viewpoint for the Luss hills, ben Lomond and the Arrochar alps. Don't miss a visit to the nearby auld wife's lifts. Forestry has taken over a bit here as there are now deer fences enclosing most of the land. Access is still available through gates. However, it remains to be seen if when the trees grow they shall obscure the views. Lots of interest around with plenty wildlife. The muir is also on the flight path for planes landing into Glasgow airport so great for plane spotters too.
This is a favourite walk. A two hour circuit from my house takes in Lennox Castle, Lennox Forest, the trig point then down the South Brae. On a clear day you can stand here and watch the planes come over and follow them until they touch down at Glasgow airport.
Lovely walk still never saw the trigg itself will go back if someone can provide more detail walked from the oval followed as per sat nav until it said at waypoing we walked on much further still ever seen it (maybe need to go off path) nice views, forestry work going on, under flight path couldn't have been far out
A great "hidden" trig point with great views towards Ben Lomond, Glasgow and the Campsite fells
Good for kids
