This heritage railway line runs for 11 miles through the picturesque Sussex countryside, offering a nostalgic journey through time. The railway features a collection of vintage steam and diesel locomotives, which haul trains composed of beautifully restored historic carriages. Passengers can choose to travel in style in the luxurious First Class carriage or opt for a more rustic experience in the open-air Brake Van. Along the route, the railway passes through rolling hills, woodlands, and villages, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The railway also hosts various events and themed trains throughout the year, such as Santa Specials and Summer Steam Days.
Nice preserved railway, with a lots of events. We visited the Railwayana fair. Very good. Much to see and beautiful steam locomotives. A pity that the workshop can not be visited. 'Fenchurch' and 'Beachy Head' couldn't be seen. I read about these locomotives on their website, came from the Netherlands to see them, but alas in vain.
Great place to visit for a day out on a heritage railway. I parked at Sheffield Park station with plenty of free parking spaces. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, they keep the railway stations and trains spotlessly clean.
The experience was incredible, for young and not so young people! Kids enjoyed as much as the adults and definitely worth the money. What a lovely old fashion train journey. We loved it! Thank you so much for the visit to the train, the great background music in the train, the lights and the mulled wine :)
A great day out for gramps to grandchildren. A step back in time, beautiful location and fantastic steam trains. A great play carriage for little ones. One minor niggle the model railways were much too small and coin operated (who carries coins these days?) Bluebell would do better to offer / give "free" tokens as part of the price.
Lovely ride on the steam train. The (volunteer) staff were very informative on the history of the railway and even let the kids go up into the engine to see the furnace!
It was gala weekend so a little more expensive than normal. But still a great way to spend the afternoon riding on fabulous old trains on a sunny summers day xx
