Chatsworth House is a grand stately home in Derbyshire, England, nestled in the heart of the Peak District National Park. This magnificent 16th-century mansion is the seat of the Dukes of Devonshire and boasts an impressive art collection, including works by famous artists such as Rembrandt, Reynolds, and Veronese. The house features a mix of architectural styles, including English Baroque, Palladian, and neoclassical elements, with a striking façade, grand staircase, and ornate state rooms. The surrounding 105-acre park is equally breathtaking, with scenic walking trails, a beautiful lake, and a rock garden.
No bins so you'll need to take your rubbish home but there are some picnic tables so it's a great place to come for a walk. Good for kids and dogs with options for short or medium distance walks. Add them together for something a bit longer. It's a quiet area so parking isn't a problem in the marked areas.
Well worth a visit, lovely forest with designated picnic areas, picnic tables, lovely walks around lakes and woodland. Riding motorbikes past here and stopped for some shade on a warm day. Been a few times and will return whenever passing.
Small free parking area. Lots of picnic benches dotted around! There's a few different walking routes, I did the green one that says easy... I would say it depends on your mobility level. It does have some steep inclines. If you're in a self propelling wheelchair then you'd likely need a helping hand by someone with good leg muscles. Any motorised aids will be great to get around the trail. There are lower level walks near the water, but I'm unsure what the terrain is for those. Where you park up, there is a flat walk along the length of the lake and a picnic bench to stop at. Ideal to listen to the woodpeckers and other birds whilst having a cuppa from my flask. It was very peaceful while I was there.
Wonderful forest walks on logging tracks on the green route. My granddaughter took her bike and loved it. Some gradients but nothing too steep. We saw toads & newts in the pools at the side of the tracks. Other walks on the other side of the road from the parking area on forest footpaths.
Found this place by chance and spent a lovely hour here. Easy walks/coloured routes. Nice place for kids to cycle (only one steepish hill). There is a small picnic area with two benches. One seems to have a metal plate on it for portable BBQs. Unfortunately, the local midges loved me around the picnic area Well worth a stop off.
Lovely place for a walk. Lots of bird sounds. Easy trails.
