A rugged and scenic headland on the south coast of Devon, featuring a mix of grassy slopes, rocky outcrops, and sandy beaches, with stunning views of the English Channel and surrounding coastline.
Amazing place to go for a walk or just for the view. You get an amazing view of both inner and outer Hope with lovely sunsets (on clear days, of course). It is often very windy on the upper part of the Bolt Tail, but it's lots of fun if you have a coat with a zipper because you can fly like those squirrels !! If you're lucky, you can also spot some dolphins from the end of the Bolt Tail and maybe even some tuna.
Beautiful walking trail with panoramic views of Hope Cove and adjacent headlands. Not exactly a made track, one needs to take care over tree roots and the cliff edges are not protected. Otherwise well worth the effort, dog friendly on leash.
Hope Cove is an amazing location to grab some low tide photography.
Park the car in the NT car park on the down and walk the huge coastal path loop into Hope Cove via Bolt Tail. The paths are extremely open and accessible and sweep through open grassland with the most scenic views on a clear blowsy day. Stay away from the very cliff edges for huge gusts of wind blowing up off the sea can catch you unaware. No tickets needed other than in the car park.
Beautiful views over the South West Coast. A short hike, but beware of wind and animal droppings (sheep roam here).
An incredibly picturesque coastal location to visit, grassy rolling hills and cliffs with very nice sea views back towards Hope Cove - Good as a destination when walking the cliff path from Thurlestone, or on the way to Salcombe. Just watch your step near the cliff edges, as the hills slope sharply down towards sheer drops in places. Keep your dogs under close control.
