This tranquil bird hide is nestled among the trees of Bookham Common, offering a serene atmosphere for nature enthusiasts to observe and connect with the local wildlife. Large windows provide an unobstructed view of the surrounding area, allowing visitors to spot a variety of bird species, including woodpeckers, jays, and finches, as they flit between the trees and feeders. The hide's peaceful ambiance makes it an ideal spot for relaxation and contemplation, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature.
This bird hide is very basic and the lake/pond in front of it doesn't offer much to watch. There are signs of teenager disruption in the form of used fireworks, graffiti and rubbish and the place seems to be very busy with dog walkers.
Had a wonderful walk with my son and spotted a little grebe and its baby, as well as several damselflies.
It is what it is. Some useful bird info on the walls just don't expect to see any real life birds.
A lovely walk, the hides are in a great spot with great views of the ponds..
Great secluded place to view the inhabitants of the pond that it overlooks. Hot afternoon, pond level quite low, just a grey heron, a little egret and a moorhen there. Inside the hide some halfwit decided it would be a good idea to add graffiti to the walls, which means the warden has had to spend unnecessary time and money removing the surface layer with a mechanical sander.
Good to see the chart showing birds to spot has now been restored , and some of the graffiti has been removed!
