A picturesque beach with soft, golden sand and crystal-clear turquoise water, surrounded by rugged cliffs and scenic coastal paths, offering stunning views of the Irish Sea and the Llŷn Peninsula.
The beaches here are great. Real pirate adventure style. Lots to explore. We visited twice in one week, both times in the late afternoon around 4. No problem parking in the harbour car park. The walk takes about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on little kids walking speed!! Follow the path past the old boats and then follow the road up the hill, over looking the water. That will lead you past the very old observation post and onto the path to the beaches. There are several. We went past the first and onto the second. From the beach level you can explore back to the first at low tide. This is. It a real swimming beach as there is a strong current in the channel but as the beach is very gradual there are plenty of pools and as the tide comes in plenty to splash about in. Well worth a visit.
Really lovely village and beach, worth a visit. Stunning scenery. Good for building sandcastles and walking dog. The water is very clear (being part sea/part river) but does shelf off quite steeply and warning signs up for the current. Kids can paddle/swim but keep a keen eye on them.
An absolutely STUNNING beach which we came across, whilst deciding to venture away from Porthmadog. It reminded me of a beach described in something like Robinson Crusoe or where Alexander Selkirk was a castaway for a number of years. So peaceful and unspoilt, a perfect place for walking the dogs or a lovely stroll (weather permitting!) The beach goes on for miles and miles and the 'Wales Coast Walk' has around 870 miles of gorgeous landscapes and stunning nature to admire along the way. Parking at the Borth y Gest car park is very reasonable too, and probably the best place to park, if venturing on the walk for the day. I really look forward to coming back here, to explore more of this beautiful place!
Beautiful beach that you can walk to by following the road above the car park. Parking is PS3.50 for 6 hours, unless you pay by app in which case it is PS3.55. There is some roadside parking in the village. This is a very picturesque village with some eateries but not overdeveloped in any way. The sea is on a tidal estuary so expect it to come in and out rapidly. Not suitable for swimming due to the strong currents.
5 minute walk down the coastal path takes you to some little moves, stay on path over small wooden bridge down steps to main beach. Very sheltered, views for miles, quite pretty.
Lovely clean beach. Nicely tucked away and quiet. Very calm waters. Not accessible for those with mobility issues.
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
