French-style stately home with fine art & baroque state rooms, surrounded by formal gardens.
It was a great place to visit with a beautiful garden. The actual 'house' is huge, more like a palace, really. The gift shop here was excellent! The cafe doesn't have its own kitchen but does serve nice cakes in what used to be the stable, and there was also art being exhibitioned there while we visited. We did not go inside and really just went here for the gardens, which did not disappoint.
House doesn't open for much of the year. Did the Great Hall tour - knowledgeable guide took us round. Lots of family history plus other portraits and items of interest. Cafe on site for coffee and cake then walk round the gardens. Beautiful setting in Northamptonshire countryside. You can see the Queen Eleanor Cross just down the road in Geddington on the same day if you wish.
Splendid house and two good tours to see different parts. Loved the walled and rose gardens and tea and cake. Not too busy unlike so many National Trust places these days.
Lovely property however lots of it was cordoned off during our visit, which might have put us off if they had mentioned it when we bought our tickets. Lots of people walking around the gardens were grumbling about the house tickets being completely sold out 20 mins after opening, which we also missed out on. Such a shame when you're coming from a long way. Definitely book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Statley House. Interiors are well preserved. No photos inside but it's a rare house with a lot of well preserved original architectural details. Massive gardens plenty of walks. Food and art exhibition on site
Went to Greenbelt that took place on the grounds so didn't really get to see Boughton House in all its glory. Saw briefly the amazing gardens and the impressive stately house from a distance. It all looked very impressive and hopefully I can find time to do a follow up visit.
