This is the oldest windmill in the UK and is owned and cared for by local charity Cambridge Past, Present & Future. The mill can be viewed from outside at any time and during summer months the mill is opened and operated by volunteers one Sunday afternoon per month. For opening dates and times see the What's on page on the Cambridge Past, Present & Future website Tea and cakes available to purchase. Members free, non-members PS3 adult, PS1 per child.
Had an amazing time. The tour inside the mill was very informative and interesting. We were a group who also had afternoon tea (pre booked). The tea was great and the cottage owner and her team of volunteers (including some very knowledgeable men/millers) were very friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much bother. Can highly recommend.
Tried to go to one of their open days and here was going to be 45min to 1 hr wait. Should be better on a quieter day.
I went there spontaneously with my son during an evening motorcycle ride. Windmill is located on private property however there's a public footpath leading straight into the mill through cottage. Currently Mill is closed due to renovation works witch are planned to be completed around end of September. We had a big luck to meet lovely Lady living in cottage next to the Mill. She sacrifice her precious time to show us Mill outside and she told us about history of this place as well as undergoing works around Mill. It was an unexpected "little tour" around this magnificent piece of machinery. We will definitely come back when works will be completed and will be a chance to look inside Mill itself. PS. There's available small car park around 50m from entrance.
Great piece of history in a beautiful setting. NOT normally open to the public except on specific open days - a few Sundays over the summer. But you can see it from the outside any day from the public footpath.
Small but perfectly formed 17th century post mill. If you go there on open days you can even have a go at pushing the mill round!
Oldest surviving post windmill in England, open only once a month
Gender-neutral toilets
Good for kids
