This charming 19th-century cottage is a rare surviving example of the workers' housing built by William Hesketh Lever, the founder of the Sunlight Soap Company, to accommodate his employees. The cottage features a picturesque facade with a steeply pitched roof, dormer windows, and a decorative timber porch. Its interior retains many original features, including a traditional Victorian-style kitchen, a cozy living room with a fireplace, and a staircase with ornate balusters. The cottage has been beautifully restored to its original condition, offering a glimpse into the lives of the workers who lived there during the Industrial Revolution era.
Really interesting museum showing actual Peaky Blinders costumes and with some additional fabulous information. Beautiful village and location with the actual Cottage used for filming next door. Really enjoyed it and very helpful staff member in hand to answer questions and give information. Recommended
Wonderful house with superbly friendly staff, we got the tour and they have lots of events and workshops to offer!
Fantastic place to visit. Just a stone's throw from Liverpool. The walking tour around was fantastic Marie our guide was great. I would go back and do it again. The tea room upstairs is very nice too.
Open to the public until September with a Peaky Blinders display - tbh I just wanted a nose in the house but I love old clothes so win win
Hosted a friend's baby shower here, fantastic room to hire. Lovely staff, tours are great - lots of history, beautifully restored.
Very nice visitor experience of Lord Lever's employees village and his home within it. Well presented by volunteers who provide the storyline on what is now. Community hub.
