This 2-mile stretch of preserved railway line showcases a bygone era of transportation, offering a nostalgic journey through the British countryside.
Liked: Absolutely loved the railway theme. Found the toilets to be very clean and never had to wait to use them (added bonus of no spiders in the showers!). Would happily come again. No problems with electric hookup or any neighbouring campers. Quiet times were mostly adhered to and everyone was very kind/respectful. This is an unmanned site (we did not come across the owner, though other reviews say they have, so maybe we missed them) but fairly easy to figure out what to do once you've found reception ( a telephone box behind the showers). Disliked: Could do with some better/clearer instructions via email before you arrive, as it is easy to miss the reception. Also better directions to the Middy bar/tearoom would be appreciated as google maps has a mind of its own, though they are fantastic and well worth the aimless wandering.
Liked: Lovely site, everyone on it was very friendly. Toilets were clean and so were the showers not even a spider in there! I loved that the little park was visible from all plots so we could watch our litte girl. We did meet the owner and he was very pleasant and had a little chat and a laugh with us. The signage around the site is also very whitty with men only at the washing up area. We travelled here with 2 dachshunds and didn't no there was a lovely big agility pitch attached to the site. PS5 for half hour was spot on for our little legged boys and it was nice for them to have the freedom. An hours drive to the nearest and the most beautiful beach too!! We will defo be heading back.. thanks so much Disliked: Nothing!
Liked: Loved this site. Very peaceful and clean. Will definitely return again. Tony is willing to chat and give local knowledge on places to go. Site is small and facility are basic, just what I was looking for as it was clam, clean and friendly. Loved the phone box reception check-in and Tony's 'men only' sign at the kitchen washing sinks. (No it's not a rule you have to follow - it's just for fun)
Liked: I love all the pitches and placements. They are spacious and well looked after. Facilities are clean and kept topped up with toilet roll and sop etc and cleaned each day. Going for a short walk to the mid Suffolk railway to the Middy bar on Friday night was really cute. There is also free wifi on site which helped me be able to set up and do some work. Disliked: I have no dislikes as will keep coming back.
Liked: Always feel worlds away staying here. So relaxing. Nice facilities as in loos/showers. And Tony says Hi every morning. We had a really lovely stay, 3 nights were too short. Definitely be back again. Disliked: Nothing
Liked: I like the setting - I pitched up in the far open field - under trees that provide windbreak.nice & flat ground- with well thought out space. My second visit here - I was surprised to see the main motor home site was full on my second night - but it was a bank holiday weekend .Obviously, that meant more people used the bathroom facilities. ( which hadn't happened on my first visit) I like the idea of the converted railway carriage loo / shower & it was very clean & well kept & at entry/exit area a good disposal area for rubbish & emptying of campervan loo tank !& useful tap . The whole of my field was peaceful on the nights I stayed there. I enjoyed myself & met the very pleasant owner who visited us all . Disliked: My only negative comments were I think there could be sign that no dogs allowed in small toilet block, as one man tried to bring dog into it when I was just about to shower -( i dissuaded him politely) & possibly another separate male / female converted railway carriage would be a nice addition, for lone travellers ?although I have options, as i have own facilities, other people may not !
