My family and I visited with another family. There were 5 children ranging from age 3 to 11. We all had an amazing day. It's free to get in, then you pay for the activities you want to do. The activities aren't cheap, but they're worth it. Our children chose to go up in the nets (not suitable for the youngest), and they were up there for hours. Food is on the pricey side, but it's really good. You can take a picnic. It would be lovely to sit down by the lake with. We can't wait to go back.
Lovely place. We used the river boat to get there and jumped off just because there were plenty of boats running so we knew there'd be another to pick us up The gardens here are lovely. There's a lot of activities such as tree top walking, zip lining, axe throwing, archery, mansion exploring, go karting, shooting, and more. Because we didn't book in advance we didn't get to do a lot so make sure you book before you get there (signal is poor so booking on the way is hard) The staff on the peer were very helpful and everything looked so well kept and nice. Bring wellies tho. It's a very muddy place even when it doesn't rain All in all worth a trip to see it with the kiddies
A beautiful visitor centre and garden that I was not even aware existed until recently! Admission is free. Lake steamers stop here, so you can arrive by boat and stay here all day. If you arrive by car, there's a pay and display car park (PS8.50 for an all-day visit). I came here with a small coach party to do the Heritage Garden Tour, which lasted about an hour. Our guide Kevin was both friendly and knowledgeable, and he shared some interesting facts about the house, garden, and family who once lived here. Some magnificent trees and flowering shrubs, including a magnolia in full bloom that was planted around 1900. Gorgeous views down to the lake. Be aware that this is a terraced garden, and there are steps that can be a bit slippy after rain. After our tour, we enjoyed a cream tea in a cosy cafe with lake views. The scone, with jam and cream, was huge and very fresh. There are clean toilets next to the cafe, a gallery with dioramas of Cumbrian wildlife and habitats, and a beautiful gift shop. This is a fantastic place for families and children. There's a treetop walk and zip wire near the entrance, an adventure playground, and little tractors for small children to ride on. There's also a good variety of outdoor activities, including archery, mini golf, laser clay shooting, and bikes and kayaks for hire. Dogs are welcome both in the grounds and the cafe. I enjoyed my visit, but it was all too brief! Would love to return in the summer to explore the woodland and lakeside walks.
Amazing place!!!!! Zip wire, climbing, treetop nets, park, golf, boats. What more could we need. Loved the smells of the BBQ smoked food. There was bouncy castles on for the toddlers too.
Really beautiful, tranquil place, boat hire was PS50, and they also had Archery which was a nice experience PS25 per person, the staff were all really nice and helpful, a lovely day out. Would definitely recommend for a nice chilled day out.
Great place to visit. Parking is easy, and you can pay for duration up to a full day on the meters in the car park. Access to lots of picnic tables and outdoor activities (additional cost for this) for families, as well as access to the lake via the ferry jetty. There is also boat hire available, motor, rowing, and paddle boards. You can then buy a ticket (various trips available) to explore the lake and also other places to get off and walk around like Ambleside & Wray Castle Food available onsite (BBQ and cafe) or bring your own picnic. Dogs allowed if kept on leads. Public toilets are available around the area.
