This 7.25-inch gauge railway runs through the beautiful Brookside Gardens in Suffolk, offering a scenic ride on a miniature train. The railway features a variety of locomotives, including steam, diesel, and electric trains, which pull carriages through the gardens, passing by flowers, trees, and water features. The railway is operated by volunteers and offers a fun and relaxing experience for visitors of all ages.
We were at the garden center restaurant for lunch and couldn't resist taking a trip on the miniature railway. It's a surprisingly long track with many loving touches and a few surprises. There's a wonderful big station with two platforms, a few tunnels and plenty of things to see that children will love.
To think this is all run by volunteers is just amazing. The train journey takes you through a fairy Glen which my 5 year old grandaughter loved plus various other themes . Everyone waves at the train.....a thoroughly enjoyable experience. She can't wait to go back again and very reasonable price .
Brilliant garden centre. Kids and the adults loved the train ride. Lots to see as it takes you around. PS2.50 per person and it's about 10 minutes. The train driver and conductor Dave were very jolly and friendly. Cafe was large with plenty of seating. A bit of a wait to get served as there was only one person at the til and the dining area was a little untidy with food bits on the floor. The staff were friendly and didn't wait too long for the ham and cheese toastie was very tasty. Definitely would recommend this garden centre and we would come again.
The minature railway was a hit with the kids. All the staff were very friendly. The garden centre itself was brilliant and was stocked with all kinds of stuff. From garden furniture, plants and sheds to interior products including ornaments, toys and books You could easily spend a good few hours here. We ate at the cafe, food was average with a premium price tag.
Great little railway. The track is a good length and has lots of bits to see as you're taken around the whole outside of the garden centre and through some wooded areas and along the riverside. They also have a part of the raid that changes seasonally/on accasions such as Easter, Christmas etc. the best miniature railway around by far. We've been coming here for years and it's been great with my little ones (1yr and 3yr old). Price also very reasonable!
Railway was thoroughly enjoyed by my son. A short lap of the garden centre with plenty for him to look at. Staff were incredibly friendly and he is looking forward to returning!!
