With over 100 acres of meadows, gardens and mature woodlands, Bryngarw Country Park is a magical place to visit. From cycle trails and pond dipping to discovery walks and storytelling events, there is something to do here all year round. If you fancy a bite to eat, we have an excellent cafe - but there are other options too: you could hire a barbeque and cook your own feast or enjoy a picnic in an enchanting wildflower meadow. On rainy days, head to the visitor centre to enjoy the interactive digital displays about the park, the restful wellbeing corner and more. Officially opened to the public as a country park in May 1986, Bryngarw has since won plenty of accolades, including Green Flag Award status and Green Heritage accreditation.
We headed to the cafe in Bryn Garw for lunch while on a walk. Unfortunately, we were informed that the chef doesn't work on a Wednesday/Thursday or Friday. This severely limited our choice to a range of cakes! We both had coffee; latte & cappuccino. On the plus side Dogs are allowed into the seating area which is flooded with natural light via an expanse of windows. Although the cafe was busy, mainly due to the school holidays, the environment wasn't noisy. There are outdoor tables available too, some of which are undercover. The park itself makes a great destination for walkers with a slow running river, a variety of plants & shrubs in the beautiful gardens. You also have an opportunity to shop for well priced plants, planters, garden accessories in the lovely garden centre on site. Highly recommend a visit.
Great country park that's had a lot of thought put into accessibility for everyone! Blue badge/ Disabled parking as you get into the car park, it's free for badge holders in the correct bays, otherwise it's payment on the meter, there's one outside the visitors centre. I think it's card/ remote payment. There's a few walking trails that are well mapped and clearly describe the distance and terrain. Lots of sensory stimulation in a calming environment. The cafe staff are friendly and helpful, having a Dairy Allergy they were knowledgeable in what was safe to eat and what wasn't! I had a rather delicious vegan muffin, freshly made, pistachio, lemon, and chai seed that I would highly recommend I also had a decaff americano that was a nice to go with it.... PS5 as a deal for both! Dog friendly, the cafe did ice cream for dogs as well! Poo bags can be put into the general waste as was stated on a notice I read on site. Lots of benches and picnic benches dotted around.
A lovely place to walk. We completed the Bryngarw circular walk up over the mountain and up the cycle route to the Oriental Garden and Riverside Trail and then onto the boardwalks. Fantastic and lots of nature to be seen. We'll worth a visit and a great place for the kids, don't forget to pick up a puzzle leaflet for the children.
Fab place to meet our daughter and grandkids. Took the dogs who enjoyed Beagling about by the little river. Lots of benches and picnic areas. Great park for the kids. Nice cafe and clean facilities. Free to get in and just PS5 for the all day car park. Great.
Bryngarw Country Park is a great place to visit. There is so much to do here...from different kinds of walks. By the river, to the pond. The playground for children. A place to play football and much much more. My grandchildren lived it and so did I. You will not be disappointed. Visit and enjoy yourself.
We had an amazing day here. So many beautiful walks and little treasures hidden away. The children loved it all , the woodland walk , the river and the park. Absolutely loved learning about the birds , trees and some local history on our walk. Well worth a visit. The little coffee was lovely too.
