Our cafe inside our Visitor Centre is open Monday-Friday 9.30am-2pm, every week, all year round, even in our closed season. The Heritage Railway has lots of railway exhibits and offers steam train rides on Sundays (and some other days) throughout our Steaming Season (April-October). We also have a fabulous Railway Museum, miniature and model railways, Visitor Centre and more! Regular visits from Thomas the Tank Engine, plus lots of other family events throughout the year! Visit our website for our events. We are closed from Halloween until April, with the exception of our Christmas event and February half term.
We went as 4 adults and 2 young children. Price at first glance seems a bit steep if not on the summer kids for PS1 pricing, but it goes towards keeping the place running so I would say it was fair. Very impressed with the variety of things available to make it a full day out! Great that you are able to have as many rides as you want on the big locomotive which lasts around 10 minutes. Good interactive bits for the children, especially the ones they can control next to the miniature train track. The play train stuff inside (Brio) is not the cleanest so would keep a wipe and sanitiser at the ready! Overall a great day out for big and small train lovers!
Lovely place, lots to do, staff were lovely. Clean toilets, lots of parking. Cafe, gift shop, charity shop, book shop. Miniature railway rides. Passenger train rides, Steam train! Was a classic car show on, highly recommend a visit. Huge place to walk around.
Recently visited for the emergency services open day. It's a really cool place and I wish I'd heard of it sooner! Much bigger than expected so be prepared to walk a lot to see it all. It was great being able to access one of the sheds where restoration work is taking place and walking over the tracks, certainly offers a unique perspective that you obviously can't get from the live tracks. They only reason I've given 4 stars was because there wasn't enough communication about how and where to get on the steam train and miniature railways and both had very big queues which weren't tolerable on the day due to it being over 30 degrees and no shade. During a quieter event or with the option to pre-book I'm sure it would be a 5 star experience.
Great museum! Much bigger than at first glance and suitable for families. Really fun day out, especially for train enthusiasts. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful too. We visited on a wet Easter holiday and stayed 3 hours.
I was the photographer for a wedding held at Bucks Railway Centre recently. I would highly recommend this venue if you are looking for a a very unique place for your day. The glass roofed platform is a beautiful setting to get married in and the grounds are so much fun for you and guests as well. I hope to be back there again soon for another wedding!
A lovely and lively slice of railway history with something for everyone. History, games, singing, roleplay, and a lovely little cafe, not to mention the miniature railway that you can ride on. A great day out if you're looking for something to do.
