A 29-meter-tall (95 ft) lighthouse situated on the south coast of Wales, built in 1835 to guide vessels into the harbor of Burry Port, a small town in Carmarthenshire. The lighthouse's tower is painted white with a red band, and its lantern room is surrounded by a balcony. It was originally powered by oil lamps, later replaced by electricity in 1960. Although automated in 1991, the lighthouse remains an important aid to navigation and a popular tourist attraction.
Lovely place to visit. There's beautiful views of the harbour and a clean sandy beach to enjoy. Plenty of parking available and some ice cream vans around too.
Lovely walk along cycle path from Pembury Park, lots of wildflower. Limited cafe opening in June. no public toilets.
Charming end to a great day. Surprising amount of eateries in Burry Port and if you park in the harbour there's a lovely cafe on the edge of the harbour. Look out for the Amelia Earhart memorial and of course the lovely lighthouse. Kids loved the whole thing.
Terrific little spot to spend a few hours if you're in / around Pembrey! Parking isn't a problem with a cheap parking area a short walk from the lighthouse, it was around PS2.60 for 4hours which is plenty of time to take in the surroundings. There's a couple ice cream trucks dotted around and the views up by the lighthouse are amazing! I would definitely recommend the visit!
