Butterley Reservoir is a picturesque man-made lake situated in the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire, England. The reservoir is surrounded by rolling hills, woodlands, and rugged moorland, offering breathtaking scenery and a tranquil atmosphere. Its calm waters reflect the beauty of the surrounding landscape, creating a perfect spot for relaxation, walking, and picnicking.
The actual reservoir itself is fantastic to walk around, however a few minor issues is the new gate in place that prevents making a loop after a certain time of the bottom part of the reservoir. So naturally I would look to take in the top reservoir as well, this becomes pretty much impractical if there has been any rain with the footpath being overgrown, muddy and inaccessible. Morons do have a tendency to fly tip on the private road and carpark, which is no fault of the land owner. But an observation
With the sun out it was wonderful
Lovely place to walk or fish
