This 90-acre park features a large boating lake, walking trails, a miniature railway, and a variety of gardens, including a sensory garden and a children's play area. The park is also home to the Callendar House, a 14th-century fortified tower house that now serves as a museum, showcasing the history and heritage of the area.
Wonderful park, with many paths taking you to either the town centre, the Calendar House, or the Kelpies, via a lovely loch. There is a fairly big playground, and a couple of other spots for children (and those not so young) to have some fun activities. You can find several benches, and picnic tables, at least on one side of the lake. I liked, especially, that for a sunny Saturday, it wasn't too crowded when I went there.
This was a return to a place,i have always loved, after a long absence.Used to be an annual Christmas visit for many years. Only 40 mins from Glasgow, for me this amazing house and park is a top attraction for any tourist in Scotland. The house is majestic and the park setting is so picturesque with its dense forest walks and its lovely pond teeming with bird life. The major plus is that the front park is bordered by the amazing ancient roman Antonine ditch which is still very visible. There is a lot of walking but no really rough terrain problems for us old folk. There is much to see both inside and outside the house, so a full day is needed here. I would like to make special mention of the lovely, friendly and helpful staff ladies who will answer any questions on the house. They also assisted me greatly when i was making some purchases from the house gift shop.I was so happy with them i invited them to my next concert in Falkirk, hopefully later in the year. The early house in Medieval times was visited by Mary, Queen of Scots. In the19th century, Queen Victoria also visited.Hope she had some scones from the amazing house Kitchen. These days, there is an excellent tearoom on the first floor with lovely garden views. A really great full day out for all the family, or just Jack and Victor types like us.
Lovely park on a sunny day. We visit Saturday mornings at 0930 for the Parkrun which is always well attended. Paths are clear, loos are open, food van is there which always smells good however never eaten at it yet. Loads of dogs get walked there and everyone's friendly. The house is pretty to look at and usually has something going on inside. Also friendly for runners with a flat run around the lake or into the trails for some hills Bike track and activities coming soon.
Phenomenal place. Huge forest at the top of the park with many paths and walks. Great for dogs. Great family place. Lots of green grass spaces and tables for picnics. Callander house is open to the public to view and there is a cafe inside. Street food van on the grounds as well. Huge loch with ducks and swans. There is a 3 course gold course on the grounds. Hire bike stations. Free water dispenser. There is wheelchair parking and paved paths for wheelchairs and buggies. Kids play area. Public toilets open certain times.
Fantastic park one of the most beautiful I have visited a great place to go and have a nice relaxing walk one of the most beautiful park runs I've volunteered at
Beautiful well maintained estate. The house is well worth a trip through. The tea room is excellent with freshly made food especially the scones and sandwiches.
