Calverley Old Hall is an ancient manor house, a solidly romantic place that has evolved over many centuries and one corner was let for holidays by the Landmark Trust for four decades. In 2022 we began a new and exciting project to bring the whole site back into use thanks to generous funding from the National Heritage Lottery Fund and a host of other supporters. Calverley Old Hall will again begin taking bookings for holidays on Saturday 27 July 2024.
This historic Jacobean manor house is currently being restored by The Landmark Trust and will eventually be reopened for holiday lets. For now they are running "hard hat tours" to allow a peak behind the scenes of this unique project as well as giving courses on the work being undertaken such as stone-carving, fabric restoration and what to do with Tudor wallpaper!
Fascinating old building, Grade 1 listed, being restored little by little. Informative tour courtesy of Landmark Trust.
Very large master bedroom with raised alcove and painting of a creepy person on the wall. This place is run by the landmark trust and the whole property was sympathetically renovated. Would love to see what the rest is like when it's all restored.
A fascinating assemblage of buildings with accretions from the medieval to the present and with many tales to tell (and still to tell, as it is developed by the Landmark Trust). It is a building that wears its heart on its sleeve more visibly than most in terms of building phases, and it retains some exciting features of vernacular architecture both inside and outside. It is on the 'at risk' register, and some aspects are clearly in need of extensive and expensive restoration. If, like me you are a heritage nerd or have a keen interest in such things, then the Old Hall is well worth a visit /viewing if you are in the area.
Stayed in this atmospheric old house for a birthday break away. Urban Landmark Trust property between Bradford and Leeds. Quite cold. And nightmare getting firelighters for open stove. Alright for a few days.
Managed to see the great developments over the weekend. It's going to look beautiful when the rennovations are complete!
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Wheelchair-accessible toilet
Good for kids
