Large, family-run farm packed with animals, a playground, tube maze and farm shop for fresh produce.
Lovely family day out. Can't believe that was our first visit. Loved seeing the animals and enjoyed the interactive talks and activities. The Restaurant was good too and really enjoyed their Super Red and Greens sandwich. Such photogenic animals too
Lovely farm experience. Definitely one of the best farm experiences in Yorkshire. Pros- 1. Lots of activities for the children of all ages 2. Ample inexpensive parking 3. Lots of area for children to run around an exhaust themselves 4. Decent restaurant and cafe 5. Well planned farm shop with option to take free range fresh whole milk ! 6. The animal races are fun to watch Cons- Can't think of any! Go visit and have a fun day with family!
Excellent day out with grandson. Farrowing sheds showing sows with piglets and the other animals captured his imagination. He was delighted his sheep came first in the sheep race and his ferret in the ferret race. The impressive play areas stretched his climbing skills. Do make sure you claim the summer discount when you book in advance. The farm is clean, well explained with great facilities for children. It was good value for money.
Visited the farm and meet the shire's experience, absolutely wonderful time, cannot recommend enough, farmer Ruth who carried out our tour was knowledgeable and friendly, great tour of the farm and lovely to see and feed the shire's, miniature donkeys and horses. The whole place is fantastic value for money, the indoor and outdoor play areas are well laid out if visiting with children and are all inclusive with your entry. We visited the cafe and bar, the food and drinks were fantastic, also really good value for money, nothing is overpriced. The farm shop was really well stocked and yet again very reasonably priced, we brought plenty home with us. Overall I cannot remember such a great day out, carry on with the great work, we'll definitely be returning.
Nice place to take young kids. Plenty to see and do and kids will love it. Outdoor play area is great. Tickets are cheaper after 3.30pm but the tractor ride isn't on after 15.25 so it's a clever tactic. 2-3hrs is more than enough for toddlers. Shops close a bit earlier than the farm itself.
I got a 4 people pass and a highland cow adoption for my birthday, so we went for that. Booking tickets was a bit fiddly; we all had to have an account, and each show our tickets individually ( though I could have misread and overcomplicated this). There are lots of unusual farm breeds to see and feed, but you are fairly remote from them and feed via a chute. The sheep racing was fun, the exotic animal sheds were really interesting and the food was very nice. Spent a fortune in the farm shop: worth it, though. It is a shame you don't get near the animals. I went for the highland cows, but you can't get close. A petting barn or something would have been the 5th star. It is set in a beautiful area, and there is a stately home next to it, too. We had gorgeous weather, which always helps. There was my husband and I and our 2 sons (18 & 22) and we all enjoyed our day here. Lots of play areas for little children. Would definitely recommend.
