Local city park with woodland, ponds and streams, plus a fishing lake and nature conservation area.
One of the lesser known commons of Southwest London. And compared to some of its illustrious / infamous cousins (see Clapham, Wimbledon etc) this one is nothing if not unassuming. Hey, who wouldn't be with such heavyweight showoffs in the family? But let's not be ungrateful. It is a huge boone to this quadrant of the city that it is dotted with so many surviving parcels of common land. Their special legal status gives rise to a certain democratic anarchy of spirit and an untouchable, wilder variant of the urban park. Let's further specify this particular one as belonging to the 'well-kept secret' subspecies: a locals-only, Londoners-in-the-know retreat. <Pause to appreciate>
Pleasant and large open space with a small wooded area and a lake with ducks, moorhens and coots. It does not have its car park but does have a local bus route and can be accessed easily on foot from the local area.
Honestly, it's a perfect place to spend time with my kids. There's two playgrounds near by at Joseph Hood Recreation Ground and a huge area to run and play. Beautiful view.
Lovely little common with open areas, wooded jogging paths and a wetland area with local birdlife. Great for picnics, jogs or a nice walk among the trees to take your mind away from it all.
A lovely walk in and amongst nature. So many peole with friendly dog enjoying the weather. Make my heart smile. Saw a few ducks and a seagull amongst the ducks. Identity crisis maybe?
Calm, soothing, birds . All fantastic
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
Dogs allowed
