This 18th-century farmhouse turned heritage centre showcases the history and culture of the Welsh community in Liverpool. The centre features exhibits on the lives and experiences of Welsh migrants, as well as a recreation of a traditional Welsh cottage and a collection of Welsh language and literature. Visitors can explore the heritage centre's gardens, which include a sensory garden and a community garden, and attend one of the many cultural events and workshops held throughout the year.
Interesting bilingual exhibition on the quarry and there are further info signs dotted round the site. I was expecting more on the language learning side but the main part of the heritage centre was closed for a conference. There were some books for sale in the cafe but generally underwhelmed. The views are stunning. Nice but limited food available and no menu or board up to explain food or drinks, just what you can see in the cabinet. Driving down to the site isn't easy and would only recommend walking for a fit and hardy person. If you enjoy intensive training then I imagine this is a great location to learn Welsh but as a day visitor and sylfaen learner I was underwhelmed and disappointed.
Very cool place. We parked at the top and walked down, which was bloomin' hard in reverse but worth it for the views. The history of the centre is interesting. Wld be good to have a few more info boards dotted about but plenty of info on the website. It's very remote and I liked it more for that. FYI cafe seems to be closed on Sundays!!!
Lovely walk down to beach, it's a bit steep. The road down is very steep, but all that aside its fantastic place to visit.
Had a spot of lunch here and a walk around the buildings and down to the beach. Do visit the Quarryman's cottage for a glimpse of what the cottages were like back in the day. Do also stroll to the quiet beach area which has lots of old industrial relics to view.
Nice place to look around and explore. Lots of old ruined buildings about and near the beach. Spectacular views to take in aswell.
Well worth the trip down a steep road. We parked at the top and walked but there is parking actually on site. Really interesting place, nice to see the cottages and how people lived. A lovely cafe on site had a lovely drink and cake while sitting outside with our dog, plenty of room inside, the views are brilliant. Definitely worth a visit.
