A Canterbury Tale of History, Humour and Insight! Canterbury's oldest and original Multi award winning Historic river tour in Canterbury. Discover the hidden secrets and stunning architecture upon the picturesque River Stour that flows through the heart of the city. The guided tour lasts for around 45 minutes and is suitable for all the family. Friendly, well-behaved dogs are welcome.
A really nice way to spend some time in Canterbury. PS16 pp. Tour lasts about 45 min. A guide punts you up and down the River Stour while telling you some local history and answering your questions - the guide Dylan did a great job answering my many questions about Canterbury, monks, the cathedral etc. Your mileage may vary if you aren't especially interested in the history of the area or if you have young children whose attention may wander.
We took this 45 minute tour on Friday. It was possibly the most informative and interesting tour I have been on. The tour guy, (forgot his name) was just wonderful! A treasure store of historical facts and information, funny and oh my goodness his story telling was just out of the world! Very engaging. I was so focused on the story telling, I forgot to take pictures of the surrounding! Will definitely recommend a trip with the tour!
A unique and tranquil way to explore the city's scenic waterways. As we glided along the river, we passed historic buildings, lush greenery, and picturesque bridges, all while enjoying a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The knowledgeable guide shared fascinating stories and insights about Canterbury's rich history, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. It's a wonderful way to see the city from a different perspective and take in its natural beauty.
We made sure to book the Canterbury river tour well in advance, securing tickets for 5 people at a cost of around $80 USD. I was thrilled to find out that the tickets could be stored in my apple wallet. Our tour was scheduled for 6/25/24 at 11:20am, but we arrived early and were able to join an earlier tour. The tour director was not only engaging and interesting, but also shared a wealth of fascinating information about the area. We learned about the history of Canterbury, including details about Thomas Becket, as well as some insights into the lives of William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe. The tour lasted approximately an hour, during which the tour director even steered the boat close to some wild flowers so that the little ones in our group could pick them. It was such a thoughtful gesture. Upon disembarking, we found a restaurant conveniently located nearby, making it the perfect way to cap off our exploration of Canterbury!
My Husband bought the trip as a birthday gift. We are locals. I thought it was really lovely experience, bit of history with beautiful views. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Must do if your visiting and really lovely for locals too.
We enjoyed the river tour so much that it was the highlight of your day trip. Our tour guide was the absolute best. His name is Shy (I think), lovely fellow. We learned so much history and felt at ease with nature. I would highly recommended that you do this when you visit Canterbury again.
