The Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre is part of The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales and is dedicated to conserving the marine wildlife of Cardigan Bay through research, outreach and education. The visitor centre is free to enter and is open to the public from April-November, 9am-5pm. It houses a range of displays about the local marine wildlife and a small shop, the profits of which help us to keep the centre open and support our marine conservation work. We work alongside Dolphin Survey Boat Trips, the original eco-tourism boat operator in New Quay. Their dolphin and marine wildlife watching boat trips can be booked online through their website (www.dolphinsurveyboattrips.co.uk) or in person through our visitor centre.
Nice little spot where you can book boat trips to see the dolphins. We preferred booking with them as the boat was a lot smaller, so not as many people on the boat, and we got 90 minutes out at sea. We ended up getting the boat to ourselves as no one else booked at the time we did, which was great. The staff here were friendly and there were some gifts to buy with some information about the dolphins. The tour guides on the boat were great and explained a lot about the coastline and the dolphins. They were very friendly and were chatty throughout the trip.
A nice quiet trail with a lovely view of the river and ducks and cute little visitor centre.
What a fabulous day out, especially on a sunny day. Dolphin spotting on the sea is a very reasonable price for an hour & a totally enjoyable & informative experience. Fortunately, we managed to see a few dolphin pods out on the boat & got to travel along the beautiful coastline, learning about the land & other wildlife too. When the tide is out, there is also an opportunity to see seals on the rocks. As a bonus, dogs are allowed on the boat for free! There are also various other trips for different activities, a fishing trip, for example. Before you go down to Cardigan slip to catch the boat, you are surrounded by little seaside shops & eating places. There is a small green park with a few benches, public toilets are 20p here. The marina gets busy on a sunny day & can be packed full of people out catching rays, crabbing or on their dingys & sail boats. This place has steep hills & uneven ground, although a wheelchair & buggy user will need assistance, it is possible to get out on to a sightseeing boat & the staff are very helpful with this. A wonderful place to see & visit, even though parking can be a struggle in season (plan it before hand), it is well worth a visit!
Lovely area, beautiful surroundings and great atmosphere. We went into many of the shops on the bay and everyone was friendly. The harbour was busy with people going about their business - walking, talking, fishing, boating. It's got a fantastic atmosphere. We will come back again!
Lovely wildlife walk but the visitor centre has more for sale than info. Good large hides and a fair parking fee.
This is really a must visit place. its wonderful all year round. But if you want to see the dolphins then summer time is ideal...We went back in October, weather wasn't so great...but the locals are very friendly and welcoming. So it don't matter what part of the world your from..they really do make you feel welcome. The sandy beach is really extra special. Kids will always have plenty to do. Our young ones really loved the beach. Its clean and family friendly. Lots of shops to visit and get souvenirs. and lots of small great places to eat out.
