A historic lock on the Kennet and Avon Canal in Reading, Berkshire, featuring a unique Turf-sided Lock design, where the lock walls are constructed from earth and turf instead of traditional brick or stone, allowing boats to be lifted or lowered between different water levels.
A lovely day out walking along the canal from Queen Elizabeth Olympic park to Lee Valley Ice Centre. Carpenters Road Lock has well defined pathways and is surrounded by well manicured lawns. There is plenty of seating available too as well as a number of refreshment outlets. A great place to start a family walk or walk with friends. Highly recommended.
I've been exploring below the normal paths...and there are some really relaxing and beautiful area's...my advice would be to explore the area for yourself...
