STUNNING!! Fantastic day out. Either for activities, picnic or just to walk around. On a sunny day the views are wonderful. The visitor centre area is very nice. Seems quite modern and very clean. There is a water fountain in the courtyard area which is fantastic too. Image attached at the end to show some of the activities.
Carsington Water is a great place because you can walk your dog, take your children on the free playground, watch the boats and spot many varieties of wildlife. There are all types of cycles to rent there too. The cafe serves light lunches and snacks and of course different beverages. The toilets are always clean and free. Parking is at a reasonable cost and there are many spaces available. And no....I don't work for them lol !
Lovely place to visit. If you go round the reservoir, then be prepared for some serious hills. The visitor centre is really nice plenty of shops and food. Best to go on a sunny day where you can take advantage of water sports.
Great place to take kids, you get lockers to put your stuff in but they are tiny so we just put valuables in them and left our stuff in the changing area. Wet suits are in with the price unlike some other places so that was a bonus. Had a great time and the weather was lovely so didn't need the wet suit tbh. Kids loved the paddle boards while the adults stuck with the kayaks. You have to pay to park at the end and noticed you could also hire bikes which would have been nice to do had we had more time. Didn't go to the cafe or pub not sure what it was but definitely had something attached where you could eat or have a drink. They had benches overlooking the lake so if you didn't participate as least you had somewhere to sit and watch.
A perfect place to start and and a walk around this great reservoir. With cafes ice cream parlour and a few little shops and neighbouring park for the kids, there is something for everyone. There's ample parking that you pay for just before leaving which means you don't need to rush to beat the clock if your circumnavigating the waters. This is a place worth a visit anytime of the year. Walks are well signposted for those wanting to see the scenery.
What a fantastic place! The scenery is beautiful and so well kept, especially for such a large place. All the footpaths were in good condition with separate paths for pedestrians and cyclists on tight bends. Great carpark facilities plenty of spaces and easy to pay (online or at a machine). The cafe was very busy but run extremely efficiently to cope with the amount of visitors and the food was delicious. We'd flown over the previous day and it looked very impressive so we drove there the following day for a walk around and it did not disappoint. We will definitely be regular visitors.
