This museum showcases the history of coal mining in South Wales, featuring a collection of mining machinery, exhibits on the lives of miners, and a recreated underground tunnel experience.
Former coal mine and now a free museum, although it was closed during my visit it was still possible to enter with no issues. Site is extremely interesting and culturally important.
CLOSED Mondays and Wednesdays. We visited on a very wet day but that didn't bother us. Most of what can be seen is inside. It's FREE entry (donation voluntry) There is a small cafe which offer great tea a yummy cakes at least the children thought so . The volunteers that work here are very friendly and very knowledgeable they seem very passionate about the mines heritage I'm thankful there's people like this keeping this place open for all to see. We spent around 2.5 hours here although you could quite easily spend longer as there is so much to take in. Theres the world's only ever gas powered tram which was a favourite with the children. All in all this place is defiantly worth a visit.
Great little place. Friendly staff and very informative. Definately a good place to visit and good for children to learn about our past.
