Cefn Eglwysilan is a small village in Powys, Wales, surrounded by rolling hills and picturesque countryside. The village is home to the remains of a 12th-century motte-and-bailey castle, which sits atop a small hill overlooking the surrounding landscape. The castle's earthworks are still visible, with a prominent motte (mound) and a surrounding ditch. The site is steeped in history, with evidence of human habitation dating back to the Iron Age. Today, visitors can explore the castle remains and take in the tranquil atmosphere of the surrounding countryside.
1 of my favourite loops to mountain bike and hike around. The views are amazing from Cefn Eglwysilan trig point, on a clear day overlooking the Bristol Channel and u get a brilliant view of the beacons, looking at penyfan ,corn du and cribyn
Fantastic views from the trig point to the Bristol Channel and in the opposite direction to Brecon Beacons and Pen y Fan. The views over Pontypridd and Abercynon are beautiful. It's only approx 7 miles from Pontypridd town. There is plenty of wildlife including Buzzards, Red Kite, Ravens, Goshawk and Sparrow hawk souring above in the skies and displaying their skills to attract mates.
Absolute gorgeous of a stunner. The hike was through the Pontypridd Circular route, through pathways of cows and sheep, to the peak, and also you are able to do this from the Rocking Stone road behind Glyntaff, past the cow farms and up woods and farmland onto this stunning beauty. Come up on a good clear day and see the views, and even the Bristol Channel!
Lovely and peaceful walk or cycle along the mountains..awesome views and not far from civilisation if you want a drink or meal..I go there quite regularly to unwind
A really nice place to go
You can't help but stop and stare out when you reach the top.
