Chapel Common is a small village in Hampshire, England, surrounded by rolling hills and woodlands. The village is dotted with thatched cottages, old farmhouses, and ancient churches, giving it a quintessential English charm. Visitors can explore the village's narrow lanes, visit the 13th-century St. Andrew's Church, and enjoy scenic walks through the surrounding countryside.
An unexpected gem! Such a beautiful place that is completely hidden from the road. There is parking just off the main road - it looks like a slip road but actually has ample parking for day-trippers. There are multiple options for directions to walk and you can easily meander away several hours there. I went on a weekend at the beginning of September, it was sunny and warm and only saw about three other people at a distance. The heather was absolutely stunning - range of colours and types which were beautiful. Mixture of walking types - some out in the open across fields and some under trees for shade. Saw lots of birds and other creepy-crawlies. Mostly flat with slight slopes going up and down across the fields but you can make the walk as challenging as you like! Took the dog and he loved it - not muddy or anything, and despite needing lots of water because it was so hot, he enjoyed the walk immensely. I will definitely come back for another walk soon!
A great open space. Beware- adders reported in grass central area. The odd deer too. Roman and ancient routes run through it. Parking on lane to south west or laybys.
Very nice area of common land. Mixture of woodland, heath and grassland. Great for dog walking. Be careful of adders in the summer
I am a regular dog walker on chapel common and we love the place, it very rarely gets muddy there as the sand just soaks it up.
