Hiking trail through a limestone ravine, with sections on steeping stones lining the river banks.
The hike through Chee Dale to the stepping stones is a memorable adventure. The trek is quite long, and the rocks and path way by the river are muddy and can be extremely slippery, especially when wet (we were there in May) Wear proper hiking boots with good traction to navigate the terrain safely. It's one of the Peak District's most picturesque valleys, and the stepping stones is the easy bit of the walk. But don't underestimate the difficulty - wear proper footwear and take care on those slippery rocks! But it's definitely one for the bucket list!
We came to do this walk today loved the trail It was very slippery on the rocks and a bit muddy but enjoyed it though, my biggest problem was the amount of dog owners letting there dogs running lose off there leads coming bombing past you in and out of water my wife was knocked flying by a dog as she was climbing down the rocks had it been closed to the edge things may of been different situation. The condition of the rock and the trail is bad enough with out the added worry of getting knocked over or slipping due to a dog running of there lead , one more thing takes your dog poo bags to a bin or home not lobbed in a tree or left on the walk sorry rant over !!!!!
What a beautiful hike! The cliffs, the riverside, the forest, and of course the river stepping stones. It has everything. Just be aware for low level walkers, some parts of the path at the eastern side (from Chee Dale to Miller Dale car park) can get very, very muddy with the odd rocky path/ slope.
Was a great adventure. Good elevation was a great challenge. Got me a bit sweaty, but the views were worth it. Even had a chance for a dip in a stream not far off the car park.
Stunning place which we visited as part of the Miller's Dale Monsal Trail. We parked our car at the Miller's Dale Car Park and walked down to the River Wye. We followed the river to the Stepping Stones. It's a beautiful, easy, and very enjoyable walk. However, it can be quite muddy after a few days of rain, so we suggest visiting in a dry season. After reaching the Stepping Stones, we then followed the official trail on the way back. With all the tunnels and historical landmarks, this was a brilliant experience. We highly recommend this place.
Great walk, lots of exercise, the path can be quite difficult for small children or older people in places, especially the hill at the exit/entrance by the car park. Additionally, there are climbing walls. I'll definitely come back
