A 130-foot-long, 100-foot-high prehistoric figure of a horse carved into the side of a hill in Cherhill, Wiltshire, England, created around 1000 BC, made of chalk and surrounded by a 200-acre nature reserve, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
I live in france, but during my whole childhood would come to Cherhill to see my grandparents. Going up the hill to see the white horse was a must every time. Be prepared for the rough journey up, it is tiering but so worth it (i am not fit anymore, but still managed to get to the top, in about 30 minutes, on the right side up -the one closer to the lands down monument than the white horse itself-). Prepare appropriate clothes for the high winds, and a bottle of water.
It's just a beautiful stunning walking and very scenic in any weather. It's definitely a must for everyone, I tend to park next to the lay-by, but you have a car park further down.
Great big white horse! Wonderful to see on the hill side
Visited for a 6 mile circular walk I found on Komoot where you can take in the horse and monument from different places. It is a lovely area to walk in, but if you go when it is wet, do take boots, walking shoes or something you don't mind getting muddy. I appreciate mud is normally sticky, but this mud was super sticky. Parking is available in multiple lay-bys and there is a good cafe nearby. Super views and lots of interesting flint. I always hope to find an arrow head, never have.
A beautiful place to visit with some lovely views of the hill itself and the surrounding area when you reach the top! Absolutely loved it :)
Amazing didn't go close but saw from the distance. Also visited the other horses and ended up seeing all of them except one but very great place to go to see something unique. Not sure which one it is but these are some of what I saw.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
