History of 4 regiments connected with Cheshire from 1685 to today, depicted in interactive displays.
Visited today and was welcomed by friendly and smiley staff, which is always a pleasure. Was totally impressed at how much the museum had on display, even tanks and canons! There was no shortage of information. So much to see and read about. Absolutely loved the figures. A great way to really picture how soldiers lived and worked. Totally worth a family ticket of just PS10.00 to see all of this. A great experience and would highly recommend!
A highly enjoyable visit to Cheshire Military Museum by a group from Chester Business Club on 8/11/23. Friendly informative staff. Very interesting artefacts on display. I particularly enjoyed walking through time: a well organised collection that lead me from the creation of the Cheshire Military regiment, through the wars, through The Troubles, to present day. Poignant moments in history brought to life. A very special museum in Chester - highly recommended
We visited here with our 9 year old son, it's not a massive museum, but we spent 90 minutes here, which could've been longer if we didn't have to meet some friends for lunch. The collection covers a wide period of military history, with plenty of information about the exhibits. The medal collection is as extensive as it is stunning, is well displayed and accessable and has the names of the original owners who were awarded the medals which is a really nice touch as some museums don't do this. Lots of historic weapons on display, as well as some more modern types, some fantastic miniature scenes (see my pictures), a few video screens playing content as well as loads of other memorabilia. For the price, it's well worth a visit if you're interested in the subject.
Just called in at the last minute to see if they had anything from a couple of my ancestors, General David Anderson and his son Lt. Gen Sir Warren Hastings Anderson KCB... extremely helpful staff, and within 5 minutes, I found Hastings Medals. (I am still searching for Hastings uniform, which I know was donated somewhere and only found one medal for David so curious where his others are.) It is a very interesting museum and an absolute must to visit if you have any army interest or family connection.
Interesting hour and half in the Chester Military Museum. Worth a visit to learn about military history from Roman to modern times. Open from Thursday to Sunday. PS4 entry fee. No parking so park in town car parks.
Pretty cool place. Good artefacts and plenty of information to read. Friendly staff and very clean. Could do with mentioning some of the atrocities committed by the Brits too though, kinda sugarcoated everything. No wheelchair access either I believe as there were steps.
