This ancient labyrinthine puzzle, located in the village of Chevin, West Yorkshire, is a mysterious and intriguing attraction. The maze is constructed from large, carefully placed stones, forming a complex and confusing path that challenges visitors to navigate its twists and turns. With its origins shrouded in mystery, the Chevin Stone Maze is believed to date back to the 18th century, although some theories suggest it may be much older. As visitors make their way through the maze, they are surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the Yorkshire countryside, adding to the sense of adventure and discovery.
What a fantastic experience, I've been to mazes all over the world and this one is by far the best, we got lost on numerous occasions and at one point we almost call the emergency services but we then found the secret passage that led us to the exit which to our delight was a beautiful pub where we could all sit down with a cheeky beer and share our experiences, WOW! What a day, thank you chevin stone maze, we will see you again soon
Cool little local site near Otley, but a bit poorly signposted. I had to ask some passers-by for full directions! Lovely example of great stone work, and a local even told me it was their favourite spot for lockdown drinks with their friends!
The stone maze situated in absolutely beautiful location. Great for relaxing walk
Small maze but fun. Beautiful location. You are able to drive up if you struggle walking up the hill
Happened upon this after seeing some Roe Deer along the path after the White House Cafe. We were having a wee meander with the dog and fell across it. Hubby and pup ran around inside for 5 mins and enjoyed it while I tried to help from outside (needless to say they didn't listen - the dog jumped over the walls and hubby just ran around madly). It would be silly fun for little kids, the walls are tall enough that its confusing for toddlers and those maybe up to 6, but caregivers/guardians can still see them. It's also narrow enough that children could look up and over to see out at their caregivers/guardians without too much stress.
Lovely walk from Otley Town centre up station Road and then follow the path up to the White House. To find the Stone maze you head West through the courtyard of the White House. You can either follow the tarmac road to the left, of go across the little stone bridge. After about 300 yards you will find the stone maze.
Good for kids
