The Gardens reopen on Sunday 10th March, Mothering Sunday, and then open every Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and bank holiday. The Cholmondeley family have lived on these lands since Norman times, with the castle built in the early 19th century by the 1st Marquess. Nestled within historic parkland our 70 acres of beautiful Gardens offer magnificent displays through the seasons and are filled with colour and botanical delights. Discover the romantic Temple and Folly Water Gardens, Glade, Arboretum, ornamental woodland upon Tower Hill, Lavinia Walk and new for 2024, The Cholmondeley Rose Garden, incorporating 2 new connected Rose rooms. The Gardens are also host to a series of events throughout the year, offering something for everyone.
Really lovely gardens. I'd go with 4.5 stars if the castle was part of the experience! Pricing was very reasonable though, for the string quartet in the garden. Also dropped by the team room and had some sandwiches. Fairly expensive, which you sort of expect in a place like this, but you also expect a certain standard. I ordered a roasted vegetable wrap for around PS7, which was ok at best - but there was more wrap than vegetables.
Lovely gardens with a variety of areas including a rose garden, pond and woodland walks. Great views of Cholmondeley Castle. Friendly tea rooms with great cakes
Beautiful, well-kept and very peaceful. Take a picnic and just relax under one of the many trees. The garden has been designed in such a way that no matter what season you go, it'll be magical.
Fabulous beautiful gardens. Took a 5K walk round the gardens and was amazed at the diversity of nature. Lovely views on the high points. No access to the house but the gardens and woods are definitely worth a visit. The blue bells walk was superb. Some fantastic and magnificent Redwood trees one over 170 years old planted in 1853! Also lovely cafe with good food and good coffee etc. Toilets and disabled parking. Hope the photos do it justice... Highly recommended.
i only saw the castle at a distance which was beautiful, as i was there for Frasers Fest which was amazing. but the castle grounds are beautiful and extremely well taken care of so well done to the maintenance/garden staff
Always have such a wonderful day here! It is one of the only dog friendly estates in the area so your 4 legged friend can enjoy the parklands and gardens too. Each year we visit we always see something new, they continuously care for and evolve the beautiful gardens into something not short of spectacular and there are lovely walks, from short to lengthier to enjoy. Lovely friendly tea room serving snacks, cakes and other refreshments too.
