This 7.25-inch narrow-gauge railway runs for 1.5 miles through the scenic grounds of the Hampshire County Council's Breamore House and Countryside Centre. The railway features a variety of locomotives, including steam, diesel, and electric trains, which pull a range of carriages, including open-top and enclosed coaches. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely ride through the picturesque countryside, taking in the views of the surrounding woods and fields. The railway also hosts special events throughout the year, such as themed trains and Santa specials.
Absolutely wonderful place, for adults and children who love trains. There's a ride along train, electric trains to watch and interactive remote control trains. My grandsons love this place and there's a field in the middle to have your picnic or play on! Thoroughly recommend.
Fun ride, donations only, can pay by card or cash. They recommend PS1.50 pp per ride. A steam or electric will take you twice round the track. The kids loved it and the volunteers were very helpful. There is a large grass area for playing on with a few picnic benches.
The weather was kind, lovely people, fantastic day out.
Very welcoming friendly staff, well kept clean and tidy. Ideal place for young children. Large grass area with tables great for a picnic.
Great picnic place for families. A full layout of miniature hand built steam, electric locomotives. These also have carriage's to experience the pulling power of these machines. There is also a portable and fixed smaller layouts for younger children to enjoy, and adults too. Parking is limited so pack up lunch and get there early, and enjoy.
I have been here many times over the last few years. My son is mad about trains and is always happy to visit here. There is a good sized picnic area although only a couple of tables with benches, a good idea to bring a picnic blanket of you plan on sitting for a while. The trains run around the outside of the picnic area and there are occasionally steam trains running. You can ride on the trains, with a suggested donation of PS1.50 per ride which can be paid by card or cash (it is done on an honesty box/card payment). Anyone under 10 must have an adult ride with them. The volunteers that run the railway are always very friendly and great with kids. An addition for this year has been a train set that kids can have a play with and control the trains themselves - it seems to have been welcomed by visitors and loved by children. Parking can be a bit tight on sunny days but I have always managed. There is occasionally a food van there although I have not seen it in a while. The trains run most Sundays (although closed over winter) and some Thursdays during summer holidays.
