A small, single-arched bridge built in 1750, spanning the River Fowley, with a narrow, curved roadway and low, rough-hewn stone parapets, nestled among trees and surrounded by lush greenery.
Beautiful place. Lovely views from the bridge. Covered in purple wild flowers early May and smells amazing!
Absolutely stunning,hidden gem.
Amazing bridge and the only way to Seil and Easdale. It's traditional to stop at the pub immediately after the bridge and change into a Kilt! Or you can just take photos...
The hotel across from car park well worth visiting! Beautiful scones, fab coffee. They do full lunch menu. Staff extremely helpful. Firections given to Balvicar and Ellenabeich renowned for its slate quarry and stone skimming championship. Friendly restaurant/pub The Oyster Bar worth visiting.
The bridge over the Atlantic. We were lucky to cross it on a beautiful sunny day.
Can you drive over the Atlantic Ocean? Well, kinda sorta. Not from Scotland to New York, but from the Scottish mainland to the Island of Seil. Due to some technicalities about how bodies of water are named (this bit of water connects at both ends to the Atlantic Ocean), this little bridge is considered to be 'across the Atlantic Ocean'. The Clachan Bridge (also known as 'The Bridge Over the Atlantic') was built in 1793. It's beautiful. Well worth the drive out of the way from Oban. Be sure to have a peek at the history of the pub next door, too!
