A 36-mile stretch of sandy coastline along the Essex coast, Clacton Beach is a popular seaside resort town featuring a long, sandy beach with calm and clear waters, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports. The beach is lined with a promenade, amusement arcades, and a range of restaurants, cafes, and shops. Visitors can enjoy pier amusements, boat trips, and fishing excursions, as well as a variety of events and festivals throughout the year.
A beautiful stretch of beach with plenty of space to sit and enjoy the world as it turns. We popped down on a Tuesday evening to walk the dog and my two little nieces. Most of the amenities were closed (night before Summer Peak season) and there were few people about. It was clean, calm and clearly loved by the locals, as you can see the love and pride placed into keeping the sea front looking good. I would highly recommend coming down, buying an ice cream and just enjoy the moment.
Beautiful sandy beach all the way down to Jaywick, can walk, swim, or just relax. Obviously, not by the pier as there are big crowds and a lot of noise, but walking a bit down towards Martello tower atmosphere is completely different. In addition to lovely seaside there is a free 24-hr car park next to promenade.
Great sandy beaches, visited during the weekend and surprisingly there was plenty of space as the beach was not packed. Close services, amenities and fair amount of food options.
We visited the beach North of the pier as it tends to be a little quieter. We even managed to park (for free - 24hr no return for 6) right opposite one of the walkways down to the beach, which consists of soft fine sand at the back becoming mixed with shingle as you approach the waters edge. Little bays have been created by the sea defenses which make swimming and playing very safe. Please note that there is no lifeguard service here. Highly recommend
Amazing sand, lots of places to eat and good views.
Had a wonderful time at Clacton on Sea. The place was very clean and tidy. Had lovely fish and chips and staff that served us were very pleasant and helpful. We went on the Big Wheel and staff helped us in and we're very nice. Had alot of fun playing 2p machine game. Sand was clean and water too. Everyone we met was friendly and Seagulls were massive.xx
