A former air-raid shelter built during World War II, now a museum, featuring a network of tunnels and bunkers that stretch for over 1 kilometer, showcasing the history of wartime London and the shelter's role in protecting its citizens.
A good tour definitely worth doing if your in the area
Fantastic tour! Guides were really informative. Definitely come away from the tour feeling more educated. And always lovely to see a part of our recent heritage in person! Highly recommended!
This tour is so far my favourite thing I have done in London. It really sent me back to what those people went through back then. After 180 steps you are down there with them smelling that underground smell and trying to feel what it must have felt like. The tour guides were brilliant and informative. Definitely recommend!!!
Interesting tour by @ltmuseum #HiddenLondon. A lot of steps to climb to get back out :-)
Another great tour from Hidden London!
Down you go, 180 steps down ( and back up). Huge underground facility below South Clapham Station, now a listed building. Staggering amount of space down here, in what was intended to be an 8,000 person shelter. Never really used much during WW2 and has had a chequered history since. Very well worth a visit if you are interested in such things.
