Restored 1813 river-powered pumping station that lifts water to canals 48 feet above it.
Absolutely superb tour by Tony and Julian. It's an impressive and historic piece of engineering which is maintained in working order by a team of friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. If you're on the canal, I'd strongly advise mooring up on one of their open days as it was a fascinating morning and well worth the inexpensive entrance fee.
Fascinating bit of engineering. The use of a second hand Tin mine pump back then is brilliant. A true green zero emissions machine.
Super interesting and amazing engineering from a bygone era. Well worth trying to plan your visit for a (rare) day when it's open for tours.
A fascinating insight into a genuine working example of England's industrial and canal heritage. Run by expert volunteers, who will give you a hugely informative guided tour. Best to park at Dundas and walk along the canal.
Passionate and knowledgeable guide. Well worth the visit.
We need to keep places like this running. An amazing feat of engineering from the early 1800s. The volunteers were lovely and knowledgeable, I definitely recommend a visit if you are down that way.
