Clevedon Pier is a historic pier located in Clevedon, Somerset, England. The pier is a Grade I listed building and is considered one of the earliest surviving piers in the UK. Built in 1869, it stretches 312 meters into the Bristol Channel and features a distinctive curved design. The pier is supported by 18 spans, each consisting of a pair of wrought iron columns. The pier's original purpose was to provide a landing stage for paddle steamers, but it has since become a popular spot for fishing, walking, and taking in the views of the surrounding coastline. Today, the pier is owned and operated by the Clevedon Pier & Heritage Trust, which works to preserve the pier's history and ensure its continued maintenance. Visitors can walk along the pier, visit the pier's museum, and enjoy the surrounding amenities, including cafes, restaurants, and shops.
A great day out. Peaceful to sit and watch the sea. Both the restaurant and the end of the pier cafe are excellent. The pier ticket allows you to return during the year.
Really nice to walk down this historical pier! It was free because it was a bank holiday and the Victorian games at the end also were free to play. Lunch in the glass box was also very nice and great choice for vegans /veggies!
Certainly worth a visit if in the area. Price seems a bit steep at PS5 a head, but it's technically an annual ticket, so if you live nearby this might be worth considering. For us it was likely a one-time visit, so not as great value.
We were very lucky the sun was shining and just got there before the fish and chips run out, although the portions are very mean but the batter was crispy and the the chips were better than most. Arrive before 6.30pm although it says serving up to later, it's nit once tye staff have had enough they just Stop serving no matter how long the line is, not sure if the fish had run out but there are plenty of other options, people are just turned away. It was free entry to the Pier and very worth the visit even if you have to pay the entrance fee, it's the only Grade One listed Pier in tye UK
An amazing place to visit, volunteer staff friendly and polite ,dogs are also welcome on the pier too .The brass plaques on the deck and seats are heart warming and touching and the view is stunning,I would recommend a visit to this stunning piece of architecture.
Weather was good in the South West today so headed to Clevedon Pier. Plenty of street parking a 10 min walk away. Pier kiosk staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The PS5 per person entry fee gets you entry for a year so not as expensive as I originally thought! Pier was pretty empty which was nice. Clean and tidy too. Spent some time reading the messages on the plaques of the pier. It's a nice place to spend some time when the weather is good.
