The Cliffs of Moher Walking Trail is a scenic 18km trail that runs along the cliff edges of the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, Ireland. The trail offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Aran Islands, and the surrounding landscape. It passes through rugged and windswept terrain, including rocky outcrops, wildflower-filled meadows, and sandy beaches. The trail is moderately difficult, with some steep inclines and uneven terrain, but the scenery and sense of adventure make it a must-do for outdoor enthusiasts. Along the way, visitors can spot a variety of wildlife, including seabirds, seals, and even dolphins. The trail also passes by several historic sites, including the 19th-century O'Brien's Tower and the ancient ruins of a medieval castle.
Unfortunately, the word that comes to my mind is "overrated". Sure, it's a relatively impressive sight, but it's hard to enjoy the scenery when you are surrounded by people at all times. There's something of a queue on the trail during peak hours. Surely there are other cliffs in Ireland that deserve even just one third of the love Moher gets.
If you are by car, please do not make my mistake and do not arrive there at 14.00. Incredibly many people, terrible. Parking costs 12 euros per person and you still have to work hard to find a space after paying.Go for sunset, it's worth it, the cliffs are beautiful
Great place to visit. Walk the entire route and do not get discouraged if the weather does not play along it changes quickly.
Beautiful for hiking, but was quite muddy when we went. Hiking shoes are recommended if you decide to hike the entire trail because it can also be slippery. We took a bus to arrive at the trail and had more time than if we were to go with an organized tour.
It was a very interesting experience because it was easy combined with dangerous. The trail despite being 10 km was mostly level ( muddy but level ... Hiking waterproof shoes recommended) however if u are not careful the probability of slipping over into the Atlantic from a great height bumping along the beautiful rock face is very high ! Respect the cliffs and don't prance around and u will be rewarded with superlative views.
Wow, what a wonderful view of the ocean and the cliffs themselves. We took this walk just after taking a sea tour of the cliffs, and the cliff walk was a great complement. For wheelchairs, it can be a big tricky, since some of the the paths have steps, while the accessible paths can be quite steep in some places. Overall though, if you want the beautiful view, it's definitely worth the walk.
