This museum showcases the history and heritage of Clydebank, a town in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Exhibits include displays on the town's shipbuilding industry, its people, and its role in World War II. The museum also features a recreated 1930s street scene, a Victorian parlour, and a collection of artefacts and memorabilia.
Clydebank has so much history. The ship building, tenement life, the blitz, and more. The museum was interesting but slightly barren. It felt like it was more interested in the art gallery section. Saw a tiny bit on Singers, a token amount to John Brown, and not much more. It is a nice building and staff were good but not a place where you can spend much time.
This is not a museum. It's a room with 3 model ships. Another display if singer seeking machines and then a small modern art gallery. Feel totally conned. Clydebank has so much history, but why has this been totally ignored.
We loved this museum and art gallery. The place is full of light and there's plenty of space to move around. It's small but thought- provoking and I'll take the time to learn more about Clydebank now that I've had such an interesting introduction. Lovely , welcoming, staff..who showed us round the rest of the building ( the old Town Hall, Police Court and swimming pool ) Great conversion . It's definitely worth a visit.
Wheelchair accessible and friendly staff, but looks like set for closing, I'm not sure. Coffee shop was closed as well.
Modest collection, two of the galleries were very poorly lit, making viewing pictures difficult. OK for 1/2 an hour if you are there already or if you have an interest in sewing machines.
Its a shame there isn't more than the 15 singer machines. I know the local community must have a love-hate relationship with the singer factory but it would be nice if that story was told, or even just some more machines on display. Instead 80% of the space is given over to artwork you would walk past if a charity shop was giving it away.
