Ruins of a Norman Abbey on a spectacular piece of headland with views across Morecambe BY and towards the Bowl and hills.
A small historical site found in the middle of farm land, although small this Abbey has plenty of history that requires a windswept coastal walk. Not a great deal to see and do, but if you fancy a walk from the very small carpark around the coast to an ancient site that won't cost you anything, this one is for you.
Nice little walk along a rather remote part of the coast. When we went it was a rather quiet day. They could do with updating the information signage at the Abbey, it has certainly seen better days. The Abbey itself is not big at all, hard to imagine how many people would have passed through it when it wasn't a ruin.
Lovely ruins of a 12th century Abbey, left if ruins since 1539, nice walk out to it, and great place to visit for sunsets. It is on farmland, so be sure to respect that.
Lovely afternoon walk alongside the coastal path. The Abbey looked stunning in the afternoon winter lights. Limited free parking available nearby.
Nice quiet and peaceful location. Lovely walk (we came from Glasson Dock), with lovely scenery throughout. Great for your furry one to have a play in the sea. Time it right and you can go out to the lighthouse to (check tide times).
