Combestone Tor is a rugged and windswept granite outcrop situated on the moorlands of Dartmoor National Park in Devon, England. The tor rises dramatically from the surrounding landscape, its weathered rocks worn smooth by the elements. The highest point of the tor reaches approximately 15 meters (49 feet) above the surrounding moorland, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The area surrounding Combestone Tor is dotted with other granite outcrops, adding to the dramatic and picturesque landscape.
There were a few remarkable boulders that undoubtedly hold stories of their own. While passing by, I couldn't resist the urge to stop and capture a photo against the backdrop of the absolutely stunning view. Conveniently, there was a parking area right nearby. It was early spring at the time, so I can only imagine how enchanting the place must be in the summer when everything is beautifully lush and green.
Impressive rock formations. Abit hard to get to on a narrow road. There is a small car park few meeters away from the rocks. There is a donation box. Views are outstanding over the dartmoor. Wasn't very busy when we visited in the evening.
Beautiful! I'm staying for a week and shall be using the stunning rocks, and a special hawthorn tree for art inspiration. The views are outstanding. Gentle walk to the rocks and a sensible sized but very rutted and potholed car park ( care needed).
Beautiful sunset and a fair walk up to it, but a small carpark at it if unable to walk.
Your very typical Dartmoor tor. As per most tors it has superb views over the rugged rolling hills around. A carpark is right next to the tor making very accessible for all with vehicles. Fairly easy to clamber to the top of the several massive stacks of granite slabs. Off the beaten track compared to other tors with nearby car parks, so quieter than some.
worth the drive up the narrow and winding road. superb view down Dartmoor. amazing rock formation, wonder who put it there... the Hulk I guess.
