Congleton Museum is a local history museum in the heart of Cheshire. The museum comprises interactive exhibits with artefacts from 5,000 years ago to today. Free family activities are available.
Can't believe this small but mighty museum is free! So much thought has been put in it which makes it a treasure in its own right. Loved seeing the hoards of coins found by detectorists as well as learning about the history: the Romans, Bronze age, the Civil War, Industrial revolution and WWII. Every major era in one room - what a mavellous way to engage and educate a local primary school kid. Very well done
Great museum. Friendly and informal. Packed full of information.
Congleton Museum is low on space, but they use it very well! Lots of information about different periods, as well as how we know about these times in Congleton's history. There is an interactive aspect to most of the exhibits and it would be very engaging for children as well as generally accessible to people with limited mobility or those who use a wheelchair. There is a small shop in the entrance, well-stoked with history books, postcards, small gift items and calendars, and the volunteer staff were very helpful! I definitely recommend a visit to this small, but precious, gem!
Delightful small local museum. Great set of trails & challenges for the summer.
It's just good for kids and like minds
