We came for the historical information and mill, and enjoyed spending 45-60 minutes perusing it. We also took a quick look at the jewelry store, cafe, bear works, and panning for gold - a nice mix of adult and kid activities. The historical information is really well done within the main centre and separate mill. It covers why the mill was here, showed machinery for how it operated, and told of how people lived whilst working there. Occasionally the sign lettering is a little small but the information included is really well done. The mill is also quite interesting to meander through as able to see the machines, as well as details about the 1919 Levant Mine disaster, like what happened and why it occurred. It takes around 15-30 minutes in both the interior and in the mill, depending on how quickly read. Pantry cafe had a significant amount of seating and decent looking drink and food options. Car park is huge - I assume it cost get quite full during busy periods. Toilets were quite nice and clean.
Great place to visit and free to get in and park, that doesn't happen very often in this day and age. Bonus that you can take your mutt too, all very dog friendly.
Great for a short visit. Needed somewhere to take my children on a cold November while their dad visited his dad in hospital. We had a walk round the museum and the tin mine and also did some panning for gold! Didn't find gold but all three managed to get some tin. We registered our entry and were given a PS5 voucher for jewellery. The jewellery they had was lovely. Good Black Friday offers!
Lovely & dog friendly. There is a wonderful collection of jewellery made with tin from the mine. The cafe/restaurant sells a wide range of drinks & food. Plenty of seating inside & out. For a free entry there is a lot of history to learn about & sifting for gold was fun. A huge thank you to Donna for her amazing customer service. She sorted out a ring and bracelet for myself & necklace for my mum. Not only was she lovely & helpful but she also gave us a list of wonderful places to visit nearby. We visited some on the way back to our accommodation & have the others planned for our next day out. Thank you for making it a lovely day out & can't wait to visit again.
Was amazing experience. We spend an hour looking at the jewellery, which was all stunning. The history when we walked in all add to the experience. The pick an oyster and pearl was so much fun. Jan who help us through picking and mounting the pearl was friendly and kind. The food was so yummy. We had The Likky Pie and the Dirty Burger so tasty (perfect). Would recommend a visit . Before visiting goto there website and book in before you go. There's no payment but they offer PS5 off when booked.
Something for everyone. We have been here 3 times now, usually go when the weather isn't the best (a none beach day) in the last 3 years we've been to Cornwall. We usually head to the Pantry and order the full English served on a Shovel. It's a novelty, but we love it. I'm sure we get looks from other customers, but a minute in, they wished they did the same. The service has been fantastic each time and always safe and clean. The food is great quality and plenty on the shovel (or plate, choice is yours). The menu has plenty of choice in food and drink. Pretty sure they would cater for most needs. The Jewelry is stunning to look at, we've bought a few bits and had a piece altered at a very low cost. Again, all the staff are brilliant. Outside there's interesting things to see and do. A few bits have been closed, but this year the museum was open and we had a look around. It's fascinating seeing how things were done. Really worth a quick visit.
