Corstorphine Hill Tower is a 18th-century Gothic-style tower situated on Corstorphine Hill in Edinburgh, Scotland. The tower stands 160 feet tall and offers panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. Its architecture is characterized by a slender, tapering shape with a battlemented parapet and a pointed arch at the entrance. The tower was built in 1788 as a memorial to Sir Walter Scott's grandfather and features a plaque with a quote from Scott's poem "The Lay of the Last Minstrel".
The place hasn't been taken care very well. For one who loves trail may be love this place. The path to the tower is not very clear. You need a Google map to go to this place.
A very sweet, cute, quiet walk in the park. We wanted to walk but be in a place where locals would go for a walk. It was beautiful
we where are able to get up here a while ago when it was open doors day a while ago now those! its not a very easy place to find mind you as its in the woods and not well signposted neither, anyway I digress. so when we did get here its a little bit like walking about the Scott monument as there is not much space when somebody else is walking down and you're walking up and visor versa. how ever when you get to the top and able to walk about the roof top you do get very good views. if the tower is not open then there is ample trails in the woods to explore.
Great place for a walk. One of the better places to surround yourself with nature. It gets steep in some places so can be a good workout but nothing too bad. And the paths are not paved well, so proper footwear recommended. Also, you walk past the very corner of Edinburgh Zoo so you can actually peak at zebras (though they are quite far away).
Part of rate 7 hill Tour in Edinburgh. A but unknown and overlooked tour but beautiful hike.
Lovely walk through the woods by Mary Erskine School and past the golf course. Do not be put-off by any PRIVATE road nonsense, you're free to walk paths and roads and this right is enshrined in a Scottish 2003 law! Enjoy the beautiful view over the hills and city on a bench.
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
