Creich Castle is a 15th-century tower house located in Fife, Scotland. The castle features a rectangular tower with four storeys, surrounded by a curtain wall that encloses a courtyard. The tower's walls are constructed from local stone, with dressed stone used for the quoins, windows, and doors. The castle's architecture is characterized by its crow-stepped gables, string courses, and gun loops. The castle's history dates back to the 15th century, with evidence of earlier settlements on the site. Over the centuries, the castle has undergone various renovations and restorations, with the most significant being in the 19th century. Today, Creich Castle is a private residence and is not open to the public.
This is more of a tower house rather than a castle. Probably from the 16th century. Its in the private grounds of a farm so not accessible but you can get a decent view of it from the road.
We found Creich Castle by chance , managed to find a place to stop and i took a few pictures . It's a stunning location and setting for a ruin .
Owner of this place was wonderful and so obliging. Couldnt do enough and even suggested going into the front garden for a better shot of the castle.
I visited ruins today. I walked along FCP from Newport on Tay to Newburgh
Beautiful place to visit
Not much left of the castle. Fenced off, access difficult. Part of the farm so need to get permission to look around.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
